3 Ways CBD Has Helped My Anxiety

Anxiety is a real problem and one that I have dealt with from a very young age. I had signs of social anxiety disorder (SAD) as early as 3 years old. Ironically it came hand-in-hand with disordered body image and low self esteem, but for the most part I went undiagnosed for the majority of my life.

I’ve tried A LOT of things to deal with my anxiety. Meditation, yoga, breathing techniques, supplements like 5-HTP, fish oil, and even a round of anti-depressants in 2005 (we’ll save that discussion for another day), but nothing has worked for me the way CBD oil has.

Now I want you to know it took me a long time to write this post. CBD is gaining steam as one of the hottest wellness trends and the last thing I want you to think is I’m just hoping on board the trend train. I tried multiple products over a long period of time so I could really flush out what works best for me, and share a product with you that I can recommend in full confidence.

First things first though, let’s talk about CBD

CBD or cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive chemical contained within hemp and marijuana plants. It will NOT get you high. Sorry, if you’re looking for a buzz or a mad case of the munchies this is not the product for you. It’s a really common misconception that CBD = weed. It makes sense, weed has been illegal for so long that most of us don’t understand how these plants work or what compounds actually get you high.

Here’s the deal, THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the compound that gets you high. The CBD products I use contain less than 0.3% THC. So not only are you not getting high, you should also be able to pass a drug screen with flying colors, unless you’re eating 14 pounds of CBD products per day, which is unnecessary and highly (no pun intended) unlikely.

So what happened when I started taking The H Hemp Company’s CBD full-spectrum hemp oil

1. My Social Anxiety Reduced

Ok you guys, have you ever felt like you can’t leave the house because you’re going to be judged for how you look and what you say by people you may not even know? Like the checkout person at the grocery store or the parking garage attendant. I’m not even going to go into the hand shaking and stuttering that happens when I try and talk in front of people sometimes. This was my life up until a couple of months ago. Everything I did felt like a million eyes were watching and judging me even though I’m sure now, no one even pays any attention to me. That’s what social anxiety disorder is like. It can be crippling, but I can honestly tell you that is gone now. I don’t feel any different per say, I just feel like me without all the unnecessary fear. For this one reason alone, I will continue to take The H Hemp Company’s full-spectrum CBD oil.

2.   Night-time Restlessness is Gone

Night-time restlessness is that uneasy feeling that you should be relaxing, cleaning the house, meal prepping, watching more TV, reading a book, or whatever anxiety ridden thoughts that might pop into your head when you have more than 5 minutes of free-time on your hands. This is also the time when I would’ve used food to try and occupy my mind. Thanks to intuitive eating I no longer use food as a coping mechanism, but thank’s to CBD I no longer have this extreme restlessness at night. My head is clear, calm, and I can think about what I need to accomplish the next day while still being able to truly relax before bed. 

3.  I Can Make Decisions From a Place of Calm

Making decisions from a place of calm allows me to make better decisions. Period. Prior to taking CBD my brain felt like a snow globe that had been shaken. Glitter is in every direction, and while beautiful, it’s extremely hard to function with thoughts going in every direction. After CBD, it’s like the glitter has all settled to the bottom and I can look at life through a clear lens. 

At this point you’re probably wondering how much do I take, when do I take it etc.

CBD Oil Anxiety

Well, I take 1 dropper of The H Hemp Company’s CBD full-spectrum hemp oil in the morning and one in the evening. It comes in lemon, peppermint, and natural flavors. I’ve been digging the lemon flavor myself. I just place it under my tongue and move on with my day. I see it as taking a supplement like fish oil or Vitamin C.
